Labette Community College Recognized with Top Honors at Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference in San Antonio this Summer
Parsons, Kansas, June 29, 2012—Eight Labette Community College PBL students and
their advisor traveled to San Antonio, Texas on June 22 to participate in the
PBL National Leadership Conference. These students competed in a variety
of Business related testing competitions with more than 1,700 of America’s best
and brightest college students to make some history of their own as they
showcased their talents as future business leaders and vied for the opportunity
to win over $54,000 in cash awards.
Tyler Davis from Labette Community
College in Parsons, Kansas received national recognition at the PBL Awards of
Excellence on June 27. Davis competed in
Economic Analysis & Decision Making and brought home Seventh place.
Earning a degree in a specific field is
important to an individual’s future success in the job market. This event
recognizes
PBL members who possess knowledge across
the core curriculum in the area of economics.
“Tyler is a very talented young man who works hard and demonstrates high
standards. Tyler represented not only himself, but Labette Community College
very well. I believe that Tyler has a bright future ahead of him in the
business world,” said Cathy Kibler, Accounting & Business Administration
Instructor, and PBL Advisor.
The award was part of a comprehensive national competitive events program
sponsored by FBLA-PBL that recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of
business and career-related areas. For many students, the competitive events are
the capstone activity of their academic careers. In addition to the
competitions, students immersed themselves in educational workshops, visited an
information-packed exhibit hall, and attended motivational keynotes on a broad
range of business topics.
