Indie Lens Pop Up Screening-Best of Enemies

October 4, 2016

Indie LensParsons, KS-Labette Community College and Ozark Public Television will present a free film screening of the Indie Lens Pop-Up Series, Best of Enemies. This film captures the legendary 1968 debates between two famed intellectuals and ideological opposites: leftist Gore Vidal and neoconservative William F. Buckley.

Their televised sparring shaped a new era of public discourse in the media, demarcating the moment TV’s political ambition shifted from narrative to spectacle.

A free preview screening of Best of Enemies will be held Tuesday, October 18th at Remnant Café 1719 Main, Parsons. Admission is free and the event is open to the public. Dr. Joey Pogue, Pittsburg State University Department of Communication and Peter Cook, Publisher of the Parsons Sun will be guest speakers after the screening of the film.

Complementary sandwich and cookie provided to the first 50 guests. Remnant Café will begin serving at 6pm.

Best of Enemies, is a film that premieres on Independent Lens on PBS on Monday, October 3 at 8pm. For more information, visit pbs.org/indielenspopup or contact Kalynn Amundson at 620-820-1138 or Tim Miller at 620-820-1187.
